ABCs of Life 39- Peace of mind

People say that our mind is like a monkey, constantly trying to grab on something, unable to sit-still~ Peace of mind, is like trying to calm the monkey. Trying to make it stop, will only make it more agitated. So how can we calm our monkey mind. Just try to observe our breath. Know that we are living in the now, know that we are now. Just observe your breath. Know that you are alive. Now.

ABCs of Life 4- Patience

Patience, to me it is the peace and happiness we get in living in the now. How to be patient is almost about how to live life. Something from my favourite monk, Ajahn Brahm: 1. When is the most important time: Now, because opportunities pass away too quickly 2. Who is the most important person: The story the one you are with, this are your experience, your pet, your life, your illness..etc. We have to learn to embrace it 3. The most important thing to do: To care, for others and for yourself. You get far more done when you are focused on something, and that is the core of patience I have always been quite impatient and short-tempered. For me, I want to get things done as soon as possible and quickly get away with it. Once, a friend asked me what is the greatest thing I have learned from coming to Japan. And my answer was 'Patience' Living in a foreign land, unable to converse in the native language, stark differences in so many ways. I learned and shut myself up whenever necess...
